Medication Management

What is Medication Management?

Medication management is a collaborative process between you and a qualified practitioner to evaluate, prescribe, and monitor medications that support your mental health. It involves a thorough assessment of your symptoms, history, and goals, followed by a thoughtful selection and adjustment of medications when appropriate. The goal is to find a treatment plan that is safe, effective, and tailored specifically to you – often in combination with therapy and lifestyle support. When helpful, GeneSight testing is available to provide additional insight into how your body may respond to certain medications, allowing for more informed and individualized treatment decisions.

Who can Benefit from Medication Management?

Medication management can be helpful for adults experiencing conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorders, ADHD, and other mental health concerns.  It may be a good option if symptoms interfere with daily functioning, relationships, sleep, or overall quality of life.  Some individuals use medication short-term, while others benefit from longer-term support.  Both approaches are valid and personalized.

What to Expect in Medication Management

Your first appointment typically includes a comprehensive evaluation where we discuss your symptoms, medical and mental health history, and any previous treatments.  This initial appointment is about an hour and fifteen minutes in length.  If medication is recommended, we’ll review options together, including benefits, risks, and potential side effects.  Follow-up visits focus on how you’re responding, adjusting as needed, and ensuring you feel supported throughout the process.  Follow-up appointments are about thirty minutes in length.  Care is collaborative, and your input is always an essential part of decision-making.
